Today is Blogathon Haiku Day.
I took this occasion to read a bilingual collection of haiku by Jack Kerouac, which was a great way for me to enjoy reading poetry & thinking about translation at the same time.

As far as I’m concerned, I never wrote any haiku before, so here are my first tries. I must confess I really liked the idea. I’m sure that with a little more work & thinking, I could come up with nice pieces. I’ll definitely write other haiku !
Since I’m blogging in French and English, I tried in both languages :
Pink, yellow, red, green
Dazzling colours in my eyes
As I lay to sleep
Floraison tardive
Étalage de voiles froissés
Éclosion de vie

I’m glad you took up the challenge because I like your haiku. I also wrote my first haiku today and I was satisfied with how it looked like in the end. I wrote mine in English and than translate it to Serbian. Did you translate your haiku into French or that version is completely new?

No, the French one is a totally different one, roughly meaning:
Late blooming
Display of creased veils
Hatching of life
Translating poetry is not easy, but when it’s not into your mother tongue, it’s even harder!! Hope this does not sound too awkward.
